I’ll show you mine if you show me yours ….

Whilst the actual vote will be on a per-association basis, here are my own answers.

Question 1:
a) Should solid wing sails within the class be banned or prohibited at this point in time? YES / NO
NO

b) If you answered yes to Q1a, for how long should this moratorium be in force?
1 Year, 2 Years, Indefinitely
Ban for a year is a ban forever ( I have seen this before in other classes ) potentially they should be ALLOWED for 2 years, then re-visited.

Question 2:
Are you of the opinion that all solid wing sails and large chord wing masts should be measured in their entirety as sail area under the 8m2 rule? YES/NO
YES

Question 3:
Do you wish to see solid wing sails conform in general dimensions similar to the main existing style of soft sail rigs (i.e. fit within an approx 5.2m high by 2m wide rectangle)? YES/NO
YES

Question 4:
a) Would you consider allowing multiple elements WITH gaps in between as long as the overall dimensions of the platform remained similar to existing rigs? YES/NO
YES
b) Would you consider allowing multiple elements WITHOUT gaps in between as long as the overall dimensions of the platform remained similar to existing rigs. (i.e. where the front of one element is recessed into the back of the other, or the solid structure is able to deform and have its shape changed like that of a sail)? YES/NO
YES
c) Would you consider allowing multiple sail elements for soft sail rigs and solid wing sails irrespective of configuration (i.e. completely abandoning the one sail rule)? YES/NO
YES
Question 5:
a) Do you wish to see a rule that forces all rigs (including mast, sail, boom, wing sails etc) to be able to be dismantled and packed away in a box of similar dimensions to the current hull travel boxes?
NO, absolutely not. Does a scow have to fit in a travel box? Are we going to enforce 2 piece foils as well ?? ( Yes I am aware that the question is about a rig box )
b) Would you be agreeable to have this ‘travel box’ type rule only for World & Continental Championships for a period of up to two years to allow home built wings, masts, sails etc to be easily built and tested during this transitional period?
NO

something old, something new

It’s been a busy week, the Sydney DNF regatta, a heat of the moth submarine championships yesterday. In amongst all this I some how managed  to repaint my deck, fix all seven leaks in my hull.

I also have popped out a new horizontal to go onto my old, white foil vertical, the remains of which can be seen here.

Unless this foil is a rocket out of the gate, this will be my backup foil for Belmont, and I will be using my current Ilett / Bladerider combo as my main foil.

Watch how bad I sail … LIVE

Apparently next week’s sail sydney regatta will be live on TracTrac http://www.tractrac.com/index.php?page=eventpage&id=129.

So you can watch me DNF every race in all it’s glory… assuming the 10 minute rule applies again this year.
