perfect one day, destroyed the next

Well, as expected, our MDF moulds are one shot only. I am really happy with the foil skin that emerged, but the mould didn’t survive and is off to mould heaven.

All four skins are completed now, so it is time to move onto phase 2, putting all the bits together.

It looks like it is time for design number 2, and another $3 worth of MDF in the machine for my “spare” main foil. That’s why they call it a development class :-)

Our first set of CNC’d foil moulds

With all the talk of the CNC machine earlier in the year, I thought it was time to show some finished results:

This is or first set of foil moulds to the new design that Luka and I put together. Despite my Vacuum pump deciding to take up a smoking habit and catch fire! I still managed to get the second vertical done this afternoon. Tomorrow with the moulds already prepped and ready to go, I will make the horizontals after work.
